Knowledge Sharing Event: Presentation on Building Teacher Capacity Through the Capability Approach

As part of the GESI/CVEC project’s knowledge-sharing initiative, GESI core members participated in the Faculty–Student Research Convention organised by Samtse College of Education on 8 May 2026. The event was attended by 335 participants, including faculty members, students, teachers from nearby schools, and international guests from Slovakia, Ukraine, and the USA.

During the event, a paper titled “Building Teachers’ Capacity through the Capability Approach to Advance Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Bhutanese Schools” was presented. The presentation highlighted how teachers’ capacities can be strengthened through the Capability Approach to effectively scale Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) by building on Children’s Valued Educational Capabilities (CVEC).

The session also shared key findings from the study and promoted dialogue on strengthening inclusive, equitable, and socially responsive educational practices within Bhutanese schools.
