Between 27 April and 10 May 2026, GESI core members Dr. Kinley Seden and Mr. Karma Gayphel, along with researcher Sonam Wangmo, participated in the Cambridge-aligned curriculum writers’ workshop conducted by the Centre for School Curriculum Development (CSCD), Department of School Education, Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD).
The workshop focused on the development and alignment of Grades 10 and 12 textbooks. During the workshop, the GESI team engaged in discussions with curriculum writers and specialists on integrating Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Children’s Valued Educational Capabilities (CVEC) into curriculum content and subject-specific textbooks.
The team reviewed draft textbook materials and suggested the inclusion of capability-related concepts through learning activities, illustrations, stories, reflective exercises, and review questions. While some proposed integrations were not incorporated due to subject relevance and curriculum scope, substantial integration was successfully achieved across several subjects.
The targeted subjects included Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship, Accountancy, History, Geography, and English. The initiative is expected to strengthen students’ awareness and understanding of GESI and capability-related concepts through curriculum and textbook content.
