A Knowledge Sharing Event was held on 31 October 2025 at the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD), where Dr. Kinley Seden and Ms. Tshering Om Tamang from Samtse College of Education (SCE) met with Mr. Tashi Namgay, Director, to share updates on the ongoing Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Project. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Norbu Wangchuk, Curriculum Officer at MoESD, whose participation provided an important link between the discussion and the Ministry’s ongoing curriculum development initiatives.
The session served as a follow-up to the earlier meeting held between the GESI team and curriculum officers earlier this year, continuing the dialogue on embedding GESI perspectives within Bhutan’s education system. During the meeting, the team presented the Curriculum Mapping Report, which examined the extent to which GESI principles are integrated into the national curriculum and identified opportunities to enhance inclusivity and gender responsiveness in teaching and learning practices. The report also discussed the alignment between the national curriculum and the Cambridge framework, highlighting areas where inclusive perspectives could be further reinforced as part of the curriculum transition.
Director Tashi Namgay commended the team’s sustained efforts and underscored the importance of cooperation and coordination between the colleges of education and MoESD, noting that such collaboration ensures that research outcomes effectively inform educational policy and practice.
He further noted that the ongoing development of new textbooks under the Cambridge curriculum marks a significant step towards promoting inclusivity and equity in education, and mentioned that the GESI initiative offers insights that could complement these efforts by encouraging more mindful integration of gender and social inclusion perspectives.
The event concluded on a positive note, with participants reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting gender equality and social inclusion as integral elements of Bhutan’s evolving education system.
